May Allah Grant Him Jannat Al Firdos
Faisal was beloved to all and disliked by none. He lived a pure and complete life and demonstrated an advanced character and spirituality. He reached a level of personal, academic, and social accomplishment that many people do not even achieve in late adulthood. He kept his mouth clean of negative talk and his body free from things that could be bad for him. Smart, kind, sensitive, athletic, precious to everyone, respected by all—he is the Faisal that is documented in our memories and will be remembered with pride and love even after his passing.
Faisal was born in Silicon Valley, California to Wasim Mohammad and Nargis Wasim, both of them engineers. He had two siblings, a big and little sister, the former graduating college and the latter entering high school. For his entire life he displayed the character of someone much older and wiser. He liked to hang out with his friends in his Youth Group and at school and was gentle, sweet, shy, humble, sensitive, and respectful to all. He never had any complaints about the food his mom served for dinner and never talked back to his parents or raised his voice. He also had a keen sense of humor and loved to play pranks on his siblings and crack playful jokes with his mom. Growing up, he always had a big, earnest smile on his face and never got into a fight with or was resentful toward anyone. He was very intelligent, took his education seriously, and was on track to become a computer engineer.
He went to Challenger School for 2 years for pre-K and preschool, then finished his elementary school education at Millikin Basics+ and middle school at Peterson in Sunnyvale, CA. In elementary school he was involved in the Chess Club and Debate Club. From there he went on to graduate from Wilcox High School in Santa Clara. He particularly excelled in math and science and won the Thinking Cap Quiz award. In high school he became an AP Scholar and worked as an intern at a local IT company. He was very interested in computers and also did AEACE1 A+ (Parts 1 and 2) certification.
Throughout his whole life he was involved in sports, fitness, and camping. As a child he played soccer for several years in the Santa Clara PAL tournaments. He was a member of Cub Scouts, and his father was the leader of his scout team. He was also involved in flag football, karate, swim team, and badminton team and played squash with his dad on the weekends. He took good care of his health, ate in moderation, and lived an active life.
Most importantly, Faisal displayed a precocious sense of spirituality from the beginning. He was president of the Muslim Students Association in high school, where he was a fair, respectful, passionate, and responsible leader. He spent most of his life attending Sunday School and graduated. He was a highly active member of his Youth Group, which served to hold charity events and organize fundraising. On almost a weekly basis, he attending Helping Hand, where volunteers pack new and used donated clothes and other items for the needy and disaster relief. He also volunteered for Mercy on Wheels, which packs and distributes warm meals to the homeless in San Francisco. He had many, many friends in the community and no enemies. They would meet very regularly to do charity work, play group sports or Xbox, have barbeques and picnics, or pray qiyam (late-night prayers) until the morning during the holy month of Ramadan.
